“From what I’ve seen whilst being at university, Leeds has the best digital scene in the country and it’s somewhere I look forward to making myself part of.”
Hey, I’m Nathan! I’m currently studying BA (Hons) Digital Media at the University of Leeds and will soon be finishing my second year. After dabbling in different types of digital media, I soon realized that web development was what interested me most, although I do enjoy video editing and a bit of graphic design here and there! Seeing as though I’m currently looking for an industry placement for the upcoming academic year, meeting Alex through the university’s mentoring scheme has been a massive help and has made me realize just what it is I need to learn in order to succeed in such an upcoming and, well, essential sector! Moving to Leeds was one of the best decisions I made (seeing as Ellesmere Port isn’t the best of places!) and it’s allowed me to experience what it’s like living in a much busier area. My number one passion is electronic music, therefore coming to a city like this has provided me much entertainment and opportunities, be it going to clubs myself or meeting some of the DJs that make the Leeds clubbing scene one of the best in England. Coupled with the love for music, I also love to travel – these two things go hand-in-hand for me as I visited Croatia in 2016 for Ultra Europe and will be attending Tomorrowland in Belgium this year. Alongside this, I’m pretty big into video games, after working in Game for 3 years. Telltale is where it’s at for me, love a game with a good story to it! However, you will also catch me failing to pull off aerial shots on Rocket League now and then, not even ashamed. Finally, I’ve recently become interested in amateur photography, so if you’d like to check out my recent adventures or give me any tips on my photography, check me out on Instagram @nathandawncreative and I’d love to talk to you! Hope you enjoy the event!
“As a student, I’d love to meet people who are just entering the scene, like myself, who can give me tips on the best way to go about this. However, it would be great to meet some experienced creatives who can enlighten me on how the scene has changed since they have started. I love the work of dynamic, Teabag Digital and Zolv so if any of you guys are here, it would be amazing to meet you!”
